DataGov_search_datasets tool specification
Tool Information:
Name:
DataGov_search_datasetsType:
DataGovToolDescription: Search the US federal open data catalog (Data.gov) for datasets from agencies like EPA, CDC, Census Bureau, NIH, USDA, NOAA, and more. Data.gov uses the CKAN API and indexes over 300,000 federal datasets. Returns dataset titles, descriptions, organizations, download resource URLs, tags, and last-modified dates. Use the organization filter (an agency slug such as ‘epa’, ‘noaa’, ‘nasa’, ‘hhs’, ‘usda’, ‘census’, ‘doi’, ‘energy’) to narrow results to one agency; NIH, CDC and FDA datasets are filed under ‘hhs’. Pages are cursor-based: continue with next_after as the after parameter while has_more is true. Data.gov does not report a total-hit count, so total_count is null.
Parameters:
query(string) (required) Search keywords for dataset discovery. Searches across dataset titles, descriptions, and tags.organization([‘string’, ‘null’]) (optional) Optional organization slug to filter by agency. Examples: ‘epa’, ‘noaa’, ‘nasa’, ‘hhs’, ‘usda’, ‘census’, ‘nsf’, ‘doi’, ‘energy’, ‘dot’ (a legacy ‘-gov’ suffix such as ‘epa-gov’ is accepted). NIH, CDC and FDA datasets are filed under ‘hhs’. Leave null to search all agencies.rows(integer) (optional) Number of results to return. Default 10, maximum 100.after([‘string’, ‘null’]) (optional) Opaque cursor returned as next_after by the previous response. Omit for the first page.
Example Usage:
query = {
"name": "DataGov_search_datasets",
"arguments": {
"query": "example_value"
}
}
result = tu.run(query)
